I own an oil on board painting by James Michaels. It is a painting of a mouse and is wirtten on the back "The mouse flapped his arms so hard trying to fly I could see the preliminary pencil stetch under the oil paiting."

Can you tell me if this is the same James Michaels as shown at your gallery and if this is a one of a kind paiting or series? Also, the value if known.

Thank you,
Barbara Wuertz

Hello Chuck, I remember the comments in onier interview with Judd following the shootings. He did say something very similar to this statement. I thought it to be a foolish and unprofessional way to describe the law enforcement officers' actions. I do believe he was only refering to the 2-3 officers involved at the scene and not all of the officers in the area. I recall one officer was quoted as having to reload. I do not dispute the outcome of the incident or speak against the use of excessive violence. I wasn't there. Still questions remain about the events. Originally the story claimed that an AK-47 rifle was found near the scene....whose was it? Whose bullets killed who? There are rumors.....

Thanks for the comment Nelson...

I wrote:

The "dig" was to the many residents of Lakeland I've met who forget they're also part of the county of Polk.

Nice observations with one notable exception...
All of Polk county can utilize "Polk" voice not just Lakeland. Also, many of the articles posted on this website are also published in the community weekly newspaper which is home delivered to 100,000 households and available free in over 300 rack and over the counter locations in Polk county. Polk Voice, your words your news your photos... shared with all of Polk county.

A Publix Sabor would be an excellent addition to Lakeland! My husband is Hispanic, (and works for Publix!), so I know they would get our business! Yes, maybe the bakery could provide us with some of those yummy guava pastries all sticky and covered in powdered sugar... mmm, I better go eat something.

Brooks has beautiful products, not to mention unique. Their merchandise make great Christmas gifts because they are original and special, more than a touch above a dept. store gift. I agree with you 100% here! Oh, and any one who wants an excuse to sniff some wonderful sache popourri's: their Gardenia scented beads are out of this world!

Chuck: I'm a big fan of Brooke Pottery. In fact, I think I pointed the shop out to you recently. I'm standing at the counter at Booke Pottery now, thumbing this message into my Treo. Forrtunately, I have plenty of time to write this message because of the meticulous care that goes into each transaction here. And so we wait...

Loretta,

Your best bet is to go to the Toys for Tots office in the Lake Miriam Square shopping Center any day after 9 a.m.

(It's in the old Hancock Fabrics location.)

Every time I listened in to our clerks they reminded voters about both sides.

I do wish the ballots had a tick mark on each side that the voter checks to show he/she read that side.

But I guess we already have enough races -- and places to mark -- on the ballot.
